Korg Volca FM2

The Korg Volca FM2 has enjoyed great popularity among both beginners and diehard synth enthusiasts for years. The modest purchase price of the individual units means that the entry threshold for newcomers is particularly low, while - by combining the individual models with each other - complex, tailor-made set- ups of analog and digital synthesizers and drum machines can be put together.

The volca fm is probably one of the most popular synths of its kind, with its 6 operator structure and 32 algorithms based on the legendary FM classic that changed the synth sound of the 1980s forever. Now this extremely successful synthesizer in compact format gets a successor that literally has everything. Double polyphony, double sound memory, twice as many effects.

The Korg Volca FM2 makes no compromises when it comes to features. Unlike its predecessor, the polyphony has been doubled to six voices, and in addition to the familiar chorus effect, there's now also a pleasantly smooth reverb effect, where both effects can be used simultaneously and set individually. In addition, the Korg Volca FM2 now offers space for 64 different sound programs and an inspiring randomize function that allows completely new sounds to be created at the touch of a button.

As the first in the volca series, the 2nd generation volca fm has not only MIDI IN but also a MIDI OUT connection, meaning that the intuitive 16-step sequencer can now also be used to control external sound sources.

Another new feature is that this compact synth, played with an external MIDI keyboard that is velocity-sensitive, now reproduces with velocity and can therefore be played very expressively. The new Warp Active Step sequencer mode allows for rhythmic shifts, while the pattern chain function provides sequences of up to 256 steps in length. What has remained is the classic structure of the synthesizer with its 6 operators and 32 algorithms, providing access to legendary FM sounds of the 80s and 90s. Compatibility with what is arguably the most legendary FM synthesizer ever goes so far as to transfer the original sounds to the volca fm.
