Product Information Buchla Ziggy
The Buchla Ziggy is a desktop synthesizer based on the legendary Buchla "Complex Oscillator," offering a new "unpatched" playing experience where you can quickly and easily assign modulations. It modernizes and simplifies sound design in the style of West Coast synthesis and can be played independently and works with portable keyboards like the Buchla LEM218, or with numerous other devices and DAWs via MIDI, USB, and 1 V/Oct CV. The oscillators and the Low-Pass-Gate are fully analog, while digital control allows for saving presets and creative modulation patterns. A digital effects unit shapes the final sound with reverb, delay, distortion, and more, and LEDs show assignments and modulations.
Buchla Ziggy features two analog oscillators, multiple modulators, envelopes, wave-folding, and shaping to create a wide range of sounds. Scales and alternative tunings expand the sound spectrum, and pitch controls can be quantized for melodic play. Special chaotic modulators can be accessed through the menu for unpredictable movements in the sound. The patch cable-free design, USB-C power, and MIDI control make integration into your setup easy, and configuration can be done via the device menu or the web app in your browser, making the Ziggy fast and intuitively ready for production of everything from leads to drums, percussion, and deep bass.

Various waveforms on the modulation oscillator
The output waveform of the complex oscillator is a sine wave that can be modulated by the modulation oscillator and distorted by the timbre wavefolder
Noise source and aux input as additional sound sources
Lowpass Gate (LPG) functions as VCA, filter, or both with a Sallen-Key filter
Envelope generator with the ability to mix between different shapes
Cycler modulator for modulating timbre and/or triggering gate envelopes
Digital effects include reverb, delay, chorus, pitch shift, and flanger with wet-dry control
X-LFO as a second modulation source
Creative tuning and quantization for western and non-western scales
Patch cable-free design with the ability to create and save over 100 presets
